Futurebuild Bar 2025

A render view of the NBS bar

We are excited to announce that once again we will be taking over the bar at the Futurebuild 2025! This year we are joined by partners from across our collaborative research projects with displays around digital innovation and workshops about regenerative supply chains alongside showcasing products made from plants such as industrial hemp, miscanthus, wetland crops like typha and other natural materials.

The structure of the bar will again be built from our ADEPT® system, a kit-of-parts modular solution which aims to demonstrate how these materials can be combined with an engineering and research led approach which is designed to deliver an optimised, standardised and therefore cost-efficient solution without compromising on flexibility or future adaptability. This represents the potential of a new generation of sustainable construction focused on delivering buildings that are healthier to people and kinder to the planet.

Alongside sustainable materials we will also be showcasing our work for Rapid Demonstrators project, so come by if you'd like to see a building passport and product passport in action which shows how physical products can be linked to digital product passports within integrated BIM models.  This project was supported by Digital Innovation Fund and the Smarter Manufacturing Data Hub which enabled us to demonstrate the implementation of a joined-up approach to identifying, capturing and sharing data through digital product passports which included harnessing the power of GS1 standards.

Alongside our research partners GS1 UK are this year's co-sponsors and we will be providing more information about how they have been transforming the way we work and live by powering the supply chains of millions of organisations worldwide for more than 50 years. They provide a common language for identifying, capturing and sharing data which can increase efficiency, traceability, safety and improve sustainability.

Partners from the Centre for High Carbon Capture Cropping Project funded by DEFRA and led by NIAB and FibreBroads Project supported by the Paludiculture Exploration Fund will be providing samples for display around the bar and are inviting attendees to join a roundtable event co-hosted by the Biorenewable Development Centre on supply chain development opportunities around some of their focus crops such as typha, hemp and miscanthus from 2-4pm on Wednesday 5th March.

On day one of the conference (4th March) the bar will be hosting a workshop and hackathon between 2-4pm where the Make Me With regenerative design and supply chain platform will offer an opportunity for you to develop and refine a project concept within a regenerative resource ecosystem, explore new ideas and discover the new platform facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration from the start of design.

On day three (6th March) we will be hosting a discussion with the University of Suffolk to explore the new ActiveHouse standard and how it can be applied to and be informed by research around the upcoming InstallerSHOW HAUS being construction with the ADEPT® system later this year.

We want to ensure that beyond being a place to get food and drink the bar area is a collaborative and welcoming space where you can meet and discuss ideas together – If you have an ideas, suggestions or questions about this years bar area we would love to hear from you!
