Finalist for Innovation Awards and Mayor of London’s Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge
We are thrilled to share that Natural Building Systems has been selected as a finalist in the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Innovation Awards 2024 as well as being partnered with Places for London through the Mayor of London’s Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge hosted by Sustainable Ventures.
The Babergh and Mid Suffolk Innovation Awards 2024 honour the region’s most pioneering and forward-thinking businesses across various industries. This year our nomination is in the Sustainability Innovation Award, a category that acknowledges organisations making significant strides in sustainability and energy-saving solutions to reduce carbon emissions.
The last time we participated in the Innovation Awards was in 2022, where we proudly won in two categories: Construction Innovation and Tomorrow’s World. These awards highlighted our commitment to advancing sustainable construction practices, particularly at a time when our company was only just beginning to bring our vision to life.
A Journey of Growth and Innovation
As we approach our fifth year at Natural Building Systems, we find ourselves reflecting on the strides we've made. Our initial three years were heavily focused on research and development, dedicated to creating solutions that prioritise both sustainability and innovation. Back in 2022, when we last won at the Innovation Awards we had just completed our first pilot projects, using them as a springboard to further develop and refine our techniques and products.
Since then, we’ve expanded our project portfolio to include residential extensions, educational spaces, garden studios and meeting pods. With each project, we’ve sought to standardize our manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and sustainability remain at the core of our work. Extensive testing and validation of our products have only strengthened our commitment to providing high-quality, eco-friendly building solutions. Moreover, we’re now implementing integrated digital part tracking through RFID tags and an ERP system to enhance traceability and quality management across our operations.
Looking forward, our goal is to spin out our first licensed manufacturing partnership in the new year, extending the reach and impact of our ADEPT® solution. This growth trajectory fuels our optimism and excitement for the future of Natural Building Systems as we work toward redefining sustainable construction.
Celebrating Innovation in Sustainability
The Sustainability Innovation Award, for which we’ve been shortlisted this year, is particularly meaningful. This category celebrates organisations that contribute to the development and adoption of sustainable, energy-efficient technologies. In a world increasingly concerned with the impact of climate change, Natural Building Systems is proud to be recognised for our efforts to create solutions that contribute to a lower carbon future.
The 2024 awards ceremony will take place at All Manor of Events on November 7th. We are eager to celebrate alongside other inspiring companies that share our dedication to innovation and sustainability. This gathering promises to spotlight the incredible work being done within our community to create a brighter, greener future.
Innovation Challenge 2024 – Mayor of London’s Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge
In addition to our involvement in the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Innovation Awards, we are excited to announce that we recently participated in the Mayor of London’s Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge, held on October 16th. This event, organized by Sustainable Ventures, provided a platform for climate tech entrepreneurs and startups to pitch their innovative solutions to help London reach its Net Zero target by 2030.
Chloe, representing Natural Building Systems, delivered a compelling pitch, showcasing our sustainable solutions alongside other forward-thinking businesses. Following this event, we are delighted to share that we have been matched with Places for London for the next stage of this initiative. As one of London’s largest landowners, Places for London is focused on leveraging land assets to create a greener, more connected city. Collaborating with them offers an invaluable opportunity to scale our solutions and make a meaningful impact within London’s urban landscape.
This challenge has provided us with a unique platform to connect with leading global businesses, aiming to expedite the development and deployment of climate tech innovations. We are excited about the growth potential this partnership brings and look forward to contributing to London's sustainability objectives.
